Suggestions to Candidates
Before you arrive at SEAHO:
- Practice interviewing before the conference so you have time to reflect on your answers. It may be helpful to practice with professional colleagues.
- Pre-schedule interviews with institutions you are most interested.
- Be sincere in your search. Do not schedule “practice interviews” with institutions.

- Do not over-extend yourself. Be honest with Employers. Remember: quality versus quantity.
- Review what to bring for your interview.
- Use the interview calendar document to keep track of your interview appointments. Please provide a copy at the SEAHO Placement Services desk.
- Do not apply for positions you are not qualified, or for ones which do not genuinely interest you.
- Arrive in the designated candidate waiting area five (5) – ten (10) minutes prior to your interview.
- Prior to the interview, review information about the institution for which you are interviewing..
- Include your SEAHO Candidate Number on all correspondence.
- When writing thank you notes, be careful that you use the correct position number and provide first and last names on the envelope.
- Make a list to ask questions of the interviewer.
